ARI’s Brian Matuszewski Named a Sustainability All-Star at the 2013 Green Fleet Conference

MT. LAUREL, NJ (October 3, 2013): ARI®, a leading global fleet services provider specializing in complex car and truck fleets, is pleased to announce that Brian Matuszewski has been named among Green Fleet magazine’s Sustainability All-Stars for 2013. The award recognizes those individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental sustainability in the fleet industry and who have gone above and beyond to make their company’s operations and the world greener. Matuszewski received the award and was honored at a breakfast ceremony held October 2 at the annual Green Fleet Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

As ARI’s Sustainability Manager, Matuszewski directs ARI’s sustainable fleet management consulting efforts, which includes counseling and managing the sustainable fleet needs of ARI’s clients. Matuszewski also manages all aspects of ARI’s internal sustainability programs and initiatives, including the company’s waste mitigation and energy efficiency efforts. He is the ARI representative for partnerships with SmartWay Transport, CALSTART, and multiple Clean Cities coalitions. In his time with ARI, Matuszewski has rolled out a sustainability intranet site at ARI with resources dedicated to fleet sustainability and an interactive employee idea tracker. Prior to ARI, he helped develop a public policy fleet renewal program for the State of Puebla, Mexico while working in Mexico City for a sustainability consulting firm.

Also at this year’s conference, ARI’s Director of Strategic Consulting, Chris Morgan, participated in “Small Steps towards Sustainability and Big Savings,” a presentation highlighting how fleets can become more sustainable and uncover substantial cost savings by examining their fleet data, developing benchmarking standards, and implementing best practices fleet-wide.

“Many fleets seek to maximize total cost of ownership by cycling vehicles out of service when they either reach their maximum potential number of miles or reach a certain age,” said Morgan. “But in order to uncover cost savings and opportunities for sustainability, you need to do a deep dive into the data and really examine how a fleet is operating by the numbers.”

Morgan emphasized that using data to benchmark a fleet across multiple areas including maintenance, fuel costs and productivity can help a fleet manager create a solid business case for sustainable change. “Modern telematics devices and data integration can give fleet managers significantly more insight and understanding with regard to how their fleet is truly operating, which in turn allows for more control over operating costs and the ability to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint.”
