Odometer
Indicates the number of miles on a vehicle, as distinguished from the
speedometer, which indicates the speed of the vehicle.
ODS; Odometer
Disclosure Statement Required by Federal Law when transferring ownership
of any vehicle. This form must indicate actual mileage and be completed
in full at the time of sale.
Open
End; Open End Lease A lease transaction in which the lessee guarantees
the residual value of the equipment and also shares in any appreciation
of the equipment. In an open-end lease, the fair market value of the
equipment at the end of the lease term is estimated at the inception
of the lease term; at the conclusion of the lease, the actual value
is then determined by either appraisal or sale. If the equipment is
worth less than originally estimated, the lessee is liable for the deficiency;
if the equipment is worth more, the excess belongs to the lessee. The
lessee may or may not have an option to purchase.
Operating
Lease 1. a lease which need not be shown on the balance sheet of
the lessee. Compare capital lease. 2. a lease in which the lessor provides
service and maintenance for the leased equipment; a gross lease; a service
lease; a maintenance lease.
Option Constraints
An option, when ordered, will hold up the normal production of a vehicle.
Option Package
Grouping of options that must be ordered together on a particular vehicle.

of Acceptance Guide An exhibit included in a Closed
End Lease Agreement which indicates the chargeable damages that
are not considered normal wear and tear of a vehicle.
S.T.A.R.
- A choice of any of the three floating rate finance options coupled
with easy-to-budget fixed billing for the life of the vehicle. When
a vehicle goes into service, the rate is fixed for billing purposes
for the duration of the lease while actual interest is calculated but
not billed. At lease termination, any difference between paid and accrued
interest is billed or credited. S.T.A.R. rates are typically billed
lower than fixed rates, which gives the lessee a locked-in cash flow
advantage.

Statement
of Settlement A monthly statement of all vehicles sold in the past
month that are summarized and settled with the lessee showing the sale
