Making fleet policy work for the fleet
Corporate fleet policy should be part of every company’s business strategy. It sets the ground rules for vehicle use and defines the course of action for non-compliance. Companies lacking a fleet policy risk fines and downtime, unchecked fleet and driver performance, and higher overall costs.
ARI works with customers to design a policy that protects their interests and assets. Every facet of fleet operation is covered in writing, from vehicle selection to safety, accidents and violations, fuel purchase and use, preventive maintenance, expense and mileage reporting, licensing, insurance and remarketing. To ensure that drivers understand policy, we help clients communicate the requirements and consistently reinforce the message that full compliance is necessary for optimum fleet performance and cost control.
Fleet policy is designed to encourage safe vehicle use, avoid unnecessary legal liabilities and productivity loss. When no violations occur, the rules of policy go to work to transform the client's clean record into hard savings and higher ROI.
Beware where you park!
A beverage manufacturer’s drivers were responsible for finding secure, cost-effective parking for their trucks as well as for paying parking fees and submitting expenses for reimbursement. Letting things slip, trucks were being towed or booted and vandals were damaging trucks parked in unsecured locations. The results? Vehicle damage, downtime and product loss. We recommended a new off-site parking policy and established corporate accounts with reputable parking facilities. Our client also implemented a communications plan that conveyed the requirements of the new policy to the field. Ongoing communications enabled the company to enforce driver compliance, eliminate non-compliant practices and the related fees and fines, vehicle downtime, vandalism, product loss, and most important — customer dissatisfaction.
