2019 Cosignor of the Year Chris Clarke Shares His Remarketing Insights
During this year’s Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR) in Las Vegas, ARI’s Chris Clarke was named the 2019 Consignor of the Year.
Chris, a veteran of the industry with more than 25 years of experience, has honored by a panel of his peers for his ability to encourage the use of best practices while also embracing and implementing innovation throughout the remarketing industry.
Shortly after receiving this prestigious award Chris spoke with Automotive Fleet to share his perspective on the industry along with how excited he is for the future of remarketing. He said that the demand for SUVs and crossover vehicles across all fleets has led to a rise in remarketing value, which will likely benefit many of our customers’ fleets.
Chris was at the CAR conference to lend his knowledge to a panel discussing fleet remarketing trends. He talked specifically about the evolution of digital sales in fleet, noting the spike in single-day digital sales was clear evidence of the growth in online remarketing across the fleet industry. He said that traditional auctions certainly aren’t going anywhere, but the digital marketplace has opened up opportunities to fleets of all sizes to consign vehicles in new ways.
The panel also had valuable predictions for what’s next in the world of remarketing. The addition of advanced driver assistance systems in even base fleet vehicles is changing the conversation around maintenance and service. Chris stressed the importance of staying ahead of these changes with the help of fleet remarketing professionals who have made a career out of studying the value of things like lane departure warning technology, adaptive cruise control, and automotive navigation.
Technology in remarketing continues to be a popular topic off the conference floor as well. Electric vehicles (EVs) might be emerging as a popular option in the retail world, but they’re struggling to gain notable traction among fleets. Chris discussed this trend and spoke to the reality of EVs in remarketing with Automotive Fleet in a recent article.
