Strong Retail Demand and Distribution Delays Impact MY 2016 Order-to-Delivery Times

The time it takes from placing a vehicle order to when it actually arrives road ready and prepared to do its job can vary drastically based on the model and vehicle type. Distribution channels and weather impacts can also negatively affect this timeframe.

In this year’s annual Order to Delivery (OTD) survey, Automotive Fleet summarizes the top factors influencing OTD for 2016 model year vehicles. Subject matter experts from seven fleet management companies, including ARI’s Partha Ghosh, director of supply chain management, compared 2016 to 2015 OTD, discussed strong retail demand, outlined OTD initiatives, detailed rail constraints, highlighted quality holds and upfitter challenges and how these resulted in the findings of the study.
