Twenty Safety and Accident Analytics Mistakes Fleet Managers Make (and Can Avoid)

In the March 2016 Fleet Financials, editors asked different fleet safety experts about the top mistakes that fleet managers make when it comes to analyzing fleet safety data, and how to avoid them.

ARI’s Director of Driver Excellence® Rich Radi emphasized that it is very important to not just come to a conclusion, but to draw the correct conclusions from the data. “It’s easy for fleet managers to misinterpret data and draw incorrect conclusions. For example, just because a driver has a few hard braking events in a day does not necessarily mean he is a risky driver. In fact, he may have taken appropriate actions to avoid hazards. It’s important to be able to properly interpret data and drill down into details when necessary in order to fully understand the data.”
