Operating Costs Flat for a Third Consecutive Year

In its 24th annual operating cost survey, Automotive Fleet found that operating costs have remained stable as compared to the past three years. The magazine noted that the low cost of fuel has been a big contributor to costs remaining flat year over year since fuel represents approximately 60 percent of a fleet’s total operating costs. The publishers also found that fleets continue to look to downsize to smaller vehicle segments and push for corporate sustainability initiatives, especially the large multinational fleets.

The cost of tires – which has also remained stable year over year – also helped keep overall costs flat, while increased maintenance intervals contributed to lower maintenance costs for fleets.
